Turn Your Outdoor Living Space into A Staycation Resort

Earlier this year we moved into Gymea and decided to make some changes to the back yard mainly installing a concrete pool. This meant we had to change a sliding door to a fixed glass window, completely redo our deck area and stairs as it was not pool safe, install a retaining wall and change our fence to be the right pool compliant height. #1 Decks did all of these projects in a timely and professional manner to a very high standard. We could not fault the service, turnaround and overall business. Darren Etteridge the owner was great to deal with, was very knowledgeable and suggested Thermory and Scyon finishes which we love. Darren Brown the site manager was one of the best we have dealt with, he was always onsite when he needed to be and leading his team from the front. Great to see given we have had some other poorer experiences during this pool project. Mitch in the office who I had spoken with throughout the various projects was an excellent ambassador for the business, he came onsite himself to put up a bamboo screen which I had purchased through a separate supplier. A job they didn't have to do but we were so grateful because we knew that the end result would be exactly as we had hope for. If you want to have the wood lightened like I did due to sunlight not penetrating to whole of our deck space, speak with Darren and he can have it put out in the sun in advance of build. Our job was not straightforward, to say the least! They helped us design and build an engineered timber deck, that had to hold the weight of a spa. Every member of the team carried themself in an extremely helpful and professional manner throughout the design and quoting stage, right through to completion. We recently had a deck installed by Darren at #1 Decks and we are extremely happy. It wasn’t just the fanstastic deck but the manner in which Darren conducts business. He was extremely helpful through all stages of the process from design to installation to after-sales service. There was nothing they wouldn’t do to ensure we were happy and their attention to detail was exceptional. The deck ended up being a little more complex than originally envisaged but Darren and his team worked almost without stopping for 5 straight days, including through periods of heavy rain. There were a couple of small issues with the deck as it settled, but Darren and his team came back almost immediately to rectify them, no questions asked. Darren and his team at #1 Decks were by far the best tradesmen we’ve ever had at our house - and we’ve had lots here lately! The quality of the work, the respect we were afforded as owners, and the fact that nothing was a problem. Darren made sure that we were happy with every detail and his tradesmen were great and very skilled. #1 Decks were not the cheapest quote we had, and they weren’t the most expensive, but it was worth every cent to avoid the stress of an unresponsive builder. Do we had another deck to build I’d call Darren again!
