COMPOSITE DECKING
There are many positives to composite decking but there are also a few things to consider before making your decision on the types of boards you would like to use.
Advantages
The first obvious positive is that the composite products do not require oiling. Cool!
This is a huge time saver and ensures your deck will still look good for years to come – without the time and effort of oiling the timber decks regularly.
The other advantage is that cupping, twisting or warping does not happen with a composite deck, unlike some timbers.
Disadvantages
Composite products can experience movement along the lengths of the boards which will mean but joins will open and close depending on the heat and sun exposure.
It is also true that composites can get slightly hotter than natural timbers, although we have found a freshly oiled deck with a water-based oil will have a similar temperature to a composite deck.
There are 4 composite products we recommend to our clients. Over the years, we have had the best results with these products and feel they also look the best.
